The Teleh-Zang Formation, a Paleocene to Middle Eocene carbonate unit in the folded Zagros, has been reported in different sections with different ages, and as we move from the model section to the west and north of the basin, the age range does not increase higher than the Late Paleocene. Due to the diversity of microfacies, it is a key model for studying shallow carbonate platforms. This study was conducted in eight stratigraphic sections with geographical distribution located in different parts of the Lorestan structural subzone. By examining 463 thin sections from eight stratigraphic sections in the Lorestan subzone, 11 microfacies were identified in four facies belts (tidal zone, lagoon, barrier ridges, and open sea). These microfacies indicate deposition on a gentle carbonate ramp under semi-tropical conditions. The presence of nummulites, alveolina, and orbitolites and the impact of the PETM thermal event on heterozoan communities were confirmed. This study contributes to the understanding of the paleogeography and paleoecology of the Tertiary carbonate platforms of the Zagros by providing an integrated sedimentary model.
