In this study, the biostratigraphy, microfacies, and depositional environment of the Pabdeh Formation in the Inner Fars and Hinterland Bandar Abbas zones have been investigated. In this regard, three stratigraphic sections including the 180-meter-thick Farashband, 210-meter-thick Jam-Asaluyeh, and 175-meter-thick Dasht -Arzhan sections have been investigated. The lithology of the Pabdeh Formation in the aforementioned sections includes shale, limestone, and marly limestone. All three sections are structurally located in the folded Zagros region and stratigraphically located in the inner Fars region. The lower boundary of the Pabdeh Formation in the studied sections is an erosional discontinuity with the Gurpi Formation, which is indicated by the presence of an iron oxide horizon and sand and glauconite grains, as well as the absence of lower Paleocene sediments. The lower boundary of this formation is continuous and contiguous with the Asmari Formation. Biostratigraphic studies led to the identification of 12 genus and 32 species of planktonic foraminifera and a total of five biozones were identified and introduced for the sediments of the Pabdeh Formation in the studied stratigraphic sections, which indicate an age of Early Paleocene to Late Eocene. Petrological studies led to the identification of six microfacies: sandy and glauconitic bioclastic wackestone, bioclastic mudstone, bioclastic packstone, intraclastic packstone, and bioclastic grainstone microfacies, which were deposited in the deep part of the basin
