Abstract

The igneous rocks of Niyanj region in this study include diorite, gabbrodiorite and monzonite, and Baghcheghaz region includes gabbro and gabbrodiorite. Morphological studies of zircons in the samples of the studied area were carried out on the images taken with an electron microscope and compared with Pupin's classification table. The zircons in the diotites of Niyanj region are mostly euhedral, the size of the grains varies between 100 and 200 micrometers. The zircons in the gabbros of Niyanj region are mostly euhedral, the size of the grains varies between 100 and 300 micrometers. The zircons in the gabbros of Baghcheghaz area are mostly euhedral to subhedral, these samples are often broken and the grain size varies between 100 and 400 micrometers. The zircons in the samples often have {101} pyramids and {100} prisms. The zircons in the diorites samples are S10, P2, P4, and D, which represent sub-alkaline series granites, that is, they have a hybrid origin (mantle and crust) and most of the zircons in the studied gabbro are P3, P4, P5, and D types, which indicate rocks originating from the mantle.
