Abstract

The Khunik area is located in northeast Qaen city. Volcanic rocks of this area belong to the Eocene volcanic activity. The rock sequences in this area consist of, Trachy andesite, Andesitic basalt, Aglomerate and tuff. Porphyritic and Trachytic textures are the predominant textures in this region, but sometimes, the sieve, intergranular and intersertal textures can be seen too. The alteration in area includes sericitization, argillization, Chloritization, carbonatization and silisification, especially along the faults. In chemical classification, the rocks of Khunik area, will plotted in Andesite to trachy andesite field and belong with calkalkaline series and continental arc subduction tectonic setting. HFSE elements such as Ti, Y and Nb, have depletion with respect to the rare earth elements and LILE. Depletion of HFSE and K, Sr, Ba enrichment, indicating contamination with crustal materials.
