Abstract

In current study fine grained borrow materials in ekbatan dam region located in south east of Hamedan, has stabilized. The used lime in this study, was a quick lime powder passed through sieve of 40, which added to soil by soil mass fraction of 1%, 3%, 5% and 7% and then its effect on geotechnical properties of soil during curing time of 7, 15, 30 and 45 day was investigated. Investigated Factors include, soil plasticity characteristics, uniaxial compressive strength, optimum moisture content and maximum dry density. Results showed that studied soil lose their plasticity and changed to none plastic soil after 7 day of adding lime. Also occurred changes in mineralogical composition and soil fabric lead to an increase in optimum moisture content and uniaxial compressive strength and a decrease in maximum dry density which subsequently capability of soil in engineering projects was increased. By taking into account the obtained results, curing time and lime percent of 45 day and 7%, considered as optimum curing time and optimum lime percent respectively for stabilizing of studied borrow material.
